Add top level geometry

When starting from scratch with an empty template, add the top level geometry first.

In most cases, you can define the standard geometry types as follows:
Body - Normal geometry
Base - Normal geometry
Yoke - Axis
Head - Axis
Beam - Beam
Mirror - Beam

In order to read and edit the properties depending on your display size, resize the geometry sidebar.
  1. Click Add top level geometry.
    The Add Geometry pop-up opens.

  1. Enter the geometry Name.
  2. Enter the length, width, and height in Geometry size.
The colors of the input fields correspond with the colors of the axes in the 3D visualization.
  1. Select the geometry model from the Select Model list.
    To upload a 3D model from your disk, select Upload 3DS.
When the checkbox "Use File Dimensions" is activated, the dimensions of the 3DS model will be used.

To choose a model you already created in a previous step, select Existing Model.
To use one of the default primitive types, select New Cube, New Cylinder, New Sphere.
To use one of the GDTF default models, select New default Base, New default Yoke, New default Head, New Scanner, New Conventional or New Pigtail.

  1. Select the Geometry type from the dropdown menu.
    The possible types are: Normal Geometry, Axis, Beam Filter, Color Filter, Gobo Filter, Shaper Filter, Beam and Reference.

  1. Click OK. The geometry is added in the layout view.
