Define a moving head

  • To start with an empty GDTF file, select the Empty template from the start screen.
  • Go to geometries tab.
  • To add a geometry of the moving head's base, click the Add top level geometry button.
    The Add Geometry pop-up opens.

  • Enter Base as the geometry Name.
  • Enter the length, width and height of the base in Geometry size.
  • Select New Base as the model from the Select Model list.
  • Select Normal Geometry as the Geometry type from the dropdown menu.

  • Click OK. The geometry is added and displayed in the 3D visualizer.
Hint:
In order to read and edit the properties depending on your display size, resize the geometry sidebar.

Add yoke

  • To add a child geometry, click Add child geometry.
  • Enter Yoke as the geometry Name.
  • Enter the length, width, and height of the yoke in Geometry size.
  • Select New Yoke as the model from the Select Model list.
  • Select Axis as the Geometry type from the dropdown menu.
  • Click OK. The geometry is added and displayed in the 3D visualizer.
Important:
The yoke of a moving head is always PAN. The head is always TILT.

Add head

  • To add a child geometry, click Add child geometry.
  • Enter Head as the geometry Name.
  • Enter the length, width, and height of the head in Geometry size.
  • Select New Head as the model from the Select Model list.
  • Select Axis as the Geometry type from the dropdown menu.
  • Click OK. The geometry is added and displayed in the 3D visualizer.

Add beam

  • To add a child geometry, click Add child geometry.
  • Enter Beam as the geometry Name.
  • Enter the length, width, and height of the beam in Geometry size.
  • Select New Cylinder as the model from the Select Model list.
  • Select Beam as the Geometry type from the dropdown menu.
Important:
The beam must be positioned outside of the body or head.
Otherwise there will be no light output in the visualization!
  • Define the properties of the beam according to the moving head.
  • Click OK. The geometry is added and displayed in the 3D visualizer.
Hint: Use a template to speed up the definition process.
  • To go back to the Start Page, click the Home icon.
  • Select the fixture template moving head from the fixture templates.
  • Replace the default values with the values of your moving head.
